oh, the genius . . .

so, i love smart things. things that fall into the "who thought of this anyway?" category.

for me, The Hookette by The Purse Hook, Inc. is one of those things. it's a brilliant little invention that keeps my handbags off floors, the backs of chairs, and seats next to me. i even use the hook at the movies and at house parties. as a result, my handbags don't have dirty bottoms, and they're within my sight and reach (no thieving my bags, thank you very much).

with all that, you might think i'd thought of all possible uses. indeed, i hadn't. i've just discovered that they make impeccable stocking hooks! i, of course, knew of their perfection as stocking stuffers, but i'd not yet used my hook to hold our stockings. and . . . because i know each hook can hold thirty-four pounds (wow!), i also know that Santa will be able to fill our stockings 'til his heart is content.

so, if you don't already have a purse hook, get one (and if you don't already have traditional stocking hangers, you'll be doing the dual-purpose thing). they're available online from The Purse Hook, make fantastic gifts, and sell for just $19.99 + shipping. they're also available through retailers in a handful of states. finally, if you live in Northern Virginia, just message me at leigh@LifeSansDrama.com, and i'll get one to you. one more thing about this particular hook: while the snazzy rhinestone-laden hooks are adorable, save those for occasional use with your smaller handbags. The Hookette will perfectly serve your everyday use for years to come. i've used the same hook for four years.

btw, if you're still pondering the "who thought of this anyway?" question, it's Deb, Michelle, and Sissi, three delightful New Yorkers who hail from Australia, D.C., and Norway. and these girls aren't resting on the laurels of their success with The Hookette---they recently introduced two new hooks. The Hookette Down Under is great for permanent installation and conveniently flips out of the way when not in use. The Hookette with a Twist boats a 45° twisting arm so it works well on the widest of surfaces; it's ideal for bars and unusual places.

nice work, ladies. just genius.
